Fuck You, Lucky Charms

There is a horror movie for nearly every holiday. Just look at what we posted last month for "My Bloody Valentine." And if you are looking for a festive, but bloody flick for your Saint Patrick’s Day, everyone knows the "Leprechaun" franchise is where it's at. Plus, you’ve got an astounding EIGHT films in this never ending saga to choose from. “Leprechaun” is equal parts camp, comedy, and monster movie. It's also… pretty terrible. But I don’t believe there is anything wrong with finding enjoyment in a B-Horror movie. Sometimes low-budget horror films are the most creative and disturbing works of art… or sometimes it's “Leprechaun.”

After stealing a leprechaun’s gold, Dan O’Grady returns to his home in America to enjoy his riches. Unfortunately for him, the leprechaun (Warwick Davis), has followed him back to the States and plans to exact his revenge. O’Grady captures the leprechaun in a crate in his basement. Years pass and a father and his daughter Tory (Jennifer Aniston) move in. The murderous leprechaun is released from his prison and is on the hunt for his gold. Chaos ensues as the evil little creature tries to kill anyone in his path.

This movie has some real zingers as far as lines go, along with some creative deaths including a pogo stick stabbing and being clawed to death by little leprechaun nails. “Leprechaun,” in all its gimmicky glory, has become a holiday classic.

For our cocktail the 4-Leaf Clover, we used O’Grady’s favorite, Jameson Irish Whiskey. We muddled fresh cilantro with lime juice and simple syrup to give this cocktail a refreshing flavor and a touch of green color. Garnish with a sprig of cilantro and serve in a coupe glass.

4-Leaf Clover

Ingredients:

2 oz. Jameson

.5 oz. lime juice

.5 oz. Simple Syrup

Cilantro

Instructions:

1. In a cocktail shaker muddle a small bunch of cilantro with the lime juice and simple syrup.

2. Add Jameson and ice and shake for 15 seconds.

3. Double strain into a couple glass and garnish with a sprig of cilantro.
